STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern athletics will host an NCAA Volleyball Tournament viewing party with free food and beverages Thursday, Dec. 5, in Bishop Fieldhouse. The Eagles take on Florida State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at 5 p.m., and video of the match will be streamed live.
It will be Georgia Southern's first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2010, when they lost 3-1 to Florida State in the first round, and fourth overall. The Eagles are searching for the program's first NCAA Tournament win.
The winner of the match between the Eagles and Seminoles will advance to the second round Friday at 7 p.m. and take on the winner of the match featuring the host Gators and Jacksonville.
Georgia Southern earned the Southern Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by defeating Samford 3-1 in the league's tournament championship game Nov. 24.
Georgia Southern has tied the school season record with 28 wins against five losses and has won 13 of its last 15 matches. The Eagles are 0-3 against the Seminoles all-time with the last match coming in the 2010 NCAA Tournament. Florida State also topped Georgia Southern 3-0 in 1990 and 3-0 in 1997.
