
Women's Tennis Post Wins in First Day of Invite

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern women's tennis team posted five singles wins and a doubles victory in the first day of the Georgia Southern Invite at the Wallis Tennis Center.
The Eagles posted singles victories in three of the four flights on Friday.
Lone senior Jordana Klein picked up her third victory of the fall with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Maria Barragon (SCAD) in the 1A Singles, while Freshman Anne Kurzweil earned her first career victory over Jennyfer Vivas of Savannah St. (6-2, 6-2) in the 1B singles.
Also in action in the 1B singles, Giulia Riepe defeated Emory's Melissa Goodman 6-2, 6-2.
Francisca Norregaard and Daria Vasekina also posted wins in the 2A singles. Norregaard rallied from a first set loss to defeat Elizabeth Geronimo (Savannah St.) 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Vasekina posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Bria Burrows (Savannah St.).
In doubles Isabel Dennis and McKinsey Fiveash won a hard fought battle against SCAD's tandem of Rovira and Viteri 8-7 (3).
The Georgia Southern Invite continues tomorrow with doubles action beginning at 8:30 a.m.
