Men's Tennis Fights Through Weather in Day Two of Competition

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team completed their second day of competition at the Seahawk Invitational and the Mercer Bear Gridiron Classic on Saturday.
In action at the Seahawk Invitational in Wilmington, N.C., Albert Codina Sala battled for three hours with Old Dominion's Theophile Lanthiez to take a 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 (5) win and advance to the quarterfinals.
"We are getting in some great match play at both sites," Head Coach Nick Zieziula said. "We showed some good fight in tight matches today and in both the wins and the losses we can bring a lot home to work with. Hopefully we can beat the weather tomorrow and build off of some of those lessons in Sunday's matches."
Ristomatti Lanne rebounded from a 4-1 deficit to defeat Old Dominion's Adam Moundir 7-5, 6-4. Lanne started his quarterfinal match and was trailing 3 games to 4 games in the first set when it was called due to weather. His match will resume Sunday.
Also in action in Wilmington, N.C., Eduardo Landin fell to the host team UNC Wilmington's Andre Torres 6-4, 6-3 despite leading in the first set 4-3.
In action in the Mercer Gridiron Classic in Macon, Ga., Daniel Casablancas fell in the semifinals of the A Singles to Mercer's Arnav Mohanty 6-4, 6-4, while Christian Kerrigan was forced to retire in the B Singles and lost Pedro Ecenarro 6-3, 1-0.
Robbie Thompson picked up the lone win of the day in Macon and beat Middle Georgia's Jake Hicks 6-1, 6-1. The weather affected the matches at Mercer as well. Pradeep Raja's match was delayed due to lightning and doubles action was canceled due to weather.
