
Paint the Town Blue Week Activities Announced

Week culminates with home opener vs. Western Michigan on Sept. 12
STATESBORO, Ga. - The Dog Days of Summer are upon us, classes have started and football is here, which can only mean one thing: Paint the Town Blue is near. The Georgia Southern Athletics Department announced Tuesday a week of activities slated to begin on Monday, Sept. 7 which culminates with the Eagles' home opener on Sept. 12 against Western Michigan. That game kicks at 6 p.m. at Paulson Stadium.
Paint the Town Blue starts on Sept. 1 with the True Blue Spirit Competition and goes through the first home football game on Saturday, Sept. 12. The week-long event is designed to get all of Statesboro involved in the celebration of the beginning of the 2015 football season and for businesses and campus departments and members of the community to show their support of Georgia Southern University.
The True Blue Spirit Competition starts on Sept. 1 and judging takes place on Sept. 9 and asks all businesses and campus dpeartments in Statesboro to paint their storefront and show their True Blue spirit. The competition will be judged on spirit, tradition, creativeness, window display and most True Blue. To be judged, please register at this link.
During the week, there will also be a #FritzBlitz, where Coach Willie Fritz will pop around town engaging fans, a Paint the Town Blue Kickoff Luncheon, Thursday Night Lights and True Blue Eagle Eye Friday, which encourages fans to wear their blue on Friday and have a chance to win prizes.

Monday, Aug. 17 - Community Art Contest Begins
• All Bulloch County elementary school students have the opportunity to participate in a drawing contest with the theme of Georgia Southern Athletics
Tuesday, Sept. 1 - True Blue Spirit Competition Starts
• Opening day for businesses throughout the community and campus departments to begin decorating their store fronts and inside space to see who can display the best True Blue Spirit. Campus departments will also be able to participate to decorate their office space.
Tuesday, Sept. 8 – #FritzBlitz
• Keep an eye out for head coach Willie Fritz around town. You never know what he'll be handing out!
Wednesday, Sept. 9 - Paint the Town Blue Kickoff Luncheon
• Hear from Men's Soccer Coach Kevin Kennedy, Women's Soccer Coach Brian Dunleavy, and Volleyball Coach Dustin Wood; 12 p.m. at Springhill Suites Conference Center
• Local artwork will be on display including the Paint the Town Blue Community Mural consisting of Bulloch County elementary school students' entries for the 2015 Community Art Contest; 4-6 p.m. at Springhill Suites Conference Center
• Judging for True Blue Spirit Competition
Thursday, Sept. 10 - Thursday Night Lights, hosted by the University Programming Board
• Williams Center Multipurpose Room - This event offers a relaxed, coffeehouse/lounge type environment for students to indulge in tasty treats and beverages while enjoying a variety of entertainment acts, provided by Georgia Southern's most talented; Georgia Southern Athletics will be on hand and faculty/staff/students will be invited to showcase their talent.
Friday, Sept. 11 – True Blue Eagle Eye Friday
• Keep your eyes open and your True Blue spirit at its best as GUS travels through Statesboro with his Eagle Eye's opened wide looking to give away prizes only to the Truest and Bluest fans!
Saturday, Sep. 12 – GAME DAY!
• True Blue Spirit Business Competition Winners Recognized
• Fall Kickoff - First day of youth football with Statesboro-Bulloch Parks and Recreation. Starts at 9 a.m. at Mill Creek Regional Park. Visit bullochrec.com for more information
