LAFAYETTE, La. - Louisiana was able to hold Georgia Southern scoreless for seven innings, but the Eagles came back to score four runs in the final two innings to claim a 4-3 win Saturday and tie the series up.
Early miscues by the Eagles (18-9, 6-2 SBC) were able to set up UL (13-13, 3-5 SBC) with two first-inning runs.Â
In the bottom of the fourth inning, a sacrifice fly gave the Ragin' Cajuns a 3-0 lead, but that would be the last run they'd score. Â
The Eagles mounted a comeback in the final two frames, starting with a Noah Ledford home run in the top of the eighth inning that would plate Jason Swan as well. In the top of the ninth inning, Biederer laid down a bunt that would score Jarrett Brown, tying the game up at three all. Shortly after, Swan would drive home the winning run with an RBI-single to the second baseman to bring in pinch runner Blake Evans. That would give the Eagles their first lead of the day and relief pitcher Ben Johnson shut down the Cajuns in the final frame to secure the 4-3 win.Â
