Box Score CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina used a six-run second inning to claim a five-inning 8-0 win over visiting Georgia Southern in Sun Belt softball action on Friday night from Conway.
The Chanticleers improved to 26-9 overall and 3-4 in the Sun Belt with the victory, while Georgia Southern falls to 11-18Â overall and 1-6 in the league. The two teams will resume their series with an 11:30 a.m. contest on Saturday - a time change from the originally-scheduled 2 p.m. start time due to expected inclement weather.
Coastal Carolina pushed a run across in the bottom of the first inning thanks to a wild pitch, then got a three-run home run from Indya Smith and a two-run home run from Riley Zana in the six-run second to build a 7-0 lead.
The Chanticleers then ended the game in the bottom of the fifth with Delaney Keith's RBI double.
Raelee Brabham (10-4) notched the win in the circle for Coastal Carolina, giving up one hit in five innings of work, striking out five. Morgan Kendrick (6-2) took the loss for the Eagles, giving up five hits and six runs - five earned in one-plus innings of work, walking one and striking out two.
Olivia Creamer's second-inning double was the Eagles' lone hit of the contest.
