Biography

JUNIOR (2012): Practiced in every session of spring ball… Expected to emerge as a leader of running backs group… Adapted well to hybrid T-back position with ability to run and catch passes… Will use speed to team advantage as starter and on all special teams… Blocks well on perimeter and was one of only two running backs to win coveted belt trophy award in fall 2012… Potential to take over main kickoff return duties… Played in all 14 games with 12 starts at T-Back, earning third letter… Finished season third on team for rushing and receiving… Totaled 506 yards rushing with two touchdowns (78, 42) and 197 receiving yards on seven catches (18.1 avg/c)… Averages 18.9 yards per rush and 18.0 yards per catch over three-year-career… Also returned six kickoffs for total of 125 yards (long 37)… Ran for 71 yards against Old Dominion in NCAA playoff quarterfinals with 28 yards on two carries in Eagles’ first scoring drive… Advanced Eagles 31 yards to the Monarch five-yard line before finally being thrown down on left sideline in opening drive of the second half… ESPN broadcaster Clay Matvick said after Bryant’s gain,” every time he touches it (the ball), he does something special”… Had two kickoff returns in ODU playoff game, including game-long return of 34 to start Eagles on their own 40-yard line to begin assault on two-touchdown deficit… Rushed for a team-best 75 yards (six attempts) at Furman with a 42-yard TD, the longest by an Eagle against Paladins since 83-yard Jayson Foster score in 2006… Also pulled in two receptions for 55 yards at Furman… Put Eagles on Paladin side of the field with season-best 41-yard grab on third-and-12… Ran for 78-yard touchdown to open second half vs. Elon, longest rush of his career and tied for 11th-longest rush in Georgia Southern history… Finished Elon game with season-high 82 yards on two attempts… Had 10 of the Eagles’ longest plays during season (six rushing, four receiving)… Top receiver for Eagles in two games… Matched two reception total three times in 2012 at The Citadel, at Furman and vs. Appalachian State with most yards (67) coming against the Mountaineers… Had most rushing attempts of 2012 at Georgia with eight… Ran for 28 yards combined with Banks’36-yard TD run compiled most of Eagles 5-play 80-yard scoring drive in second quarter vs. Appalachian State… Set the table for Jerick McKinnon’s 16-yard touchdown with 56-yard rush in second quarter against Howard… Earned weekly belt trophy for 10 knockdowns in Eagle win over Samford… Cleared the path with great block for Darreion Robinson’s 20-yard touchdown run in first overtime at Chattanooga… Returned two kickoffs for 56 yards against ASU, including one for career-best 37 yards… Racked up 828 all-purpose yards with at least one rushing attempt in every game, 7 receptions (197 yards) and 6 kickoff returns (125 yards)… Selected to Phil Steele Publications’ All-Southern Conference third team… One of 41 Eagles to earn grade point averages of 3.0 or above for Fall 2012.

REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2011): Played in all 14 games with eight starts, including six in a row in the middle of the year... Rushed 26 times for 217 yards and two touchdowns and caught 13 passes for 355 yards... Posted a season-high 95 yards on just 10 carries against Furman (10-15)... Made six rushes for 65 yards including a season-long of 34 yards against Maine (10-10).

SOPHOMORE (2010): Started at slotback, but broke leg in season opener vs. Savannah State and missed the rest of the 2010 season... Yielded four carries (15 yards) and a reception (20 yards)... Returned six punts against Tigers (6-47, long 14).

FRESHMAN (2009): Started three games and played in 10... Registered 10 catches for 129 yards... Had highest average per catch on team... Caught last-second 16-yard pass from Kyle Collins vs. Furman for first career touchdown... Tied career-best with three receptions in that game and had season-best total of 52 yards including long of 31... Had three catches vs. Western Carolina... converted Lee Chapple pass, gaining 15 yards on 3rd-and-7 during Eagles’ opening drive vs. Catamounts... Finished game with 33 yards... Made first career start at Appalachian State... Two receptions for 27 yards vs. The Citadel... Totaled three total tackles for the year on special teams, including two unassisted at Appalachian State... Joined the program in January after gray-shirting during fall 2008... Caught three passes for 13 yards in the Blue-White game.

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned All-Region honors three years in football... Placed at state track meet all four years... Lettered in basketball, track and football... Played football for coach Tom Fallow.

PERSONAL: Born October 6, 1989... His family has been a major influence, “The excitement I give them by playing these sports”... Most admires coach Tom Fallow... Enjoys basketball and video games... Favorite professional team is Atlanta Falcons... Son of Charles Bryant and Maxine Smiley.
