CLEMSON, S.C. – In a rematch of Saturday's matchup, Georgia Southern (8-9) bounced back and scored seven runs in the seventh inning to break the game open and secure a 10-1 win over the Wofford Terriers (15-4) Sunday morning at McWhorter Stadium.
The Eagles struck early, plating two runs in the first inning behind an RBI double from Emma Davis and a run-scoring single by Braelyn Queen. Georgia Southern added another in the second when freshman Demere Gray doubled to center to score Semira Tigg and extend the lead to 3-0.
Wofford's lone run came in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly from Rivers Sampson after an error and stolen base helped move a runner into scoring position.
The game remained tight at 3-1 until the seventh, when the Eagles' offense erupted.
Gray opened the frame with a double, sparking a stretch in which Georgia Southern collected eight hits in the inning. Davis delivered the decisive blow with a two-run single, Queen followed with an RBI double, and Valerie Combs added a run-scoring hit. A Wofford error and another RBI double from Kayla Christensen capped the scoring surge.
